Cognitive Repair Day

Three cognitive diagnostics wired to one session. How many usable hours survive context-switching; how fast focus decays inside those hours; how much willpower you have left to spend on the work that matters.

Each stage broadcasts a Live Variable. A repair day shortens the list — fewer concurrent projects, shorter blocks, fewer trivial choices.

How the pipeline works

Stage 1 prices the CPU overhead of concurrent contexts. Stage 2 runs an exponential decay against a continuous focus block. Stage 3 drains the willpower battery with weighted decisions. The readouts cascade.

Stage 1 of 3

Standalone · Task Switching Tax →

Each additional context costs 20% of remaining capacity. Effective usable hours per day pipes downstream.

Loss = 1 − 0.80^(n−1). Each additional concurrent context costs 20% of remaining capacity. Single-tasking (n=1) = 100%. At n=5, only 41% of your hours survive context-switching overhead.

Project focus decay inside one block
Standalone · Focus Horizon →

Focus = 100 × e^(−0.01 × min). Half-life ≈ 69 minutes. Quality percent broadcasts downstream as the cognitive signal-to-noise marker.

Focus Quality = 100 × e^(−0.01 × min), floor at 0. Half-life ≈ 69 min — after that every unit of additional time delivers half the output. Break and recover; don't push into the flat tail.

Stage 3 of 3
Check willpower reserves for the rest of the day
Standalone · Decision Fatigue →

Willpower = 100 − Σ(count × weight). Trivial × 1, moderate × 5, heavy × 10. The remaining charge says whether you should decide or defer.

Willpower = 100 − Σ(count × weight). Batch trivial choices (outfits, meals) to protect capacity for heavy ones. When the battery drops below 20%, you stop deciding and start defaulting — which is how most bad decisions slip through.

Why this pipeline exists

A single cognitive metric is a mood reading. Three stacked in sequence is a diagnosis. The point of a repair day isn't to be stoic — it's to shrink the inputs so the math comes out different. Change one number and watch the rest fall into line.
