How to Play VibeContext
Full rules for the Semantle-style warmth game.
Type words, watch the 1-1000 warmth score, chase the target.
VibeContext hides a target word. You guess any English word and the console scores how semantically close it is on a 1-1000 scale. Related words heat up, unrelated words stay frozen, and the target is 1000.
Quick answer
Type words, watch the 1-1000 warmth score, chase the target.
Key points
- ▸ Type any English word into the console and hit Send. Valid but unrelated words still register a low "frozen" score.
- ▸ Scoring is 1-1000. Higher means closer in meaning to the target. The target itself is exactly 1000 and ends the round.
- ▸ Warmth tiers: Frozen (1-12), Cool (13-400), Warm (400-700), Hot (700-899), Scorching (900-999). The Signal Strength bar tracks your warmest guess.
- ▸ The proximity map is curated per level — hundreds of semantically related words are pre-scored. Words outside the map but in ENABLE register a faint frozen score so you know they registered.
- ▸ Unrecognised strings (non-English, typos) are rejected with an error.
- ▸ Lifetime "signals locked" (total wins) saves to localStorage on this device.
Examples
- Scorching guessA word tightly tied to the target returns 900+. One more precise synonym usually closes the round.
- Adjacent conceptA related but indirect word lands in the Warm-Cool zone, roughly 400-700.
- Frozen wordA valid English word with no semantic link to the target scores 1-12 — it registered but is not related.
When to use which tool
- CYAN · STABLE — Signal bar in Hot or Scorching — target concept nearly locked.
- GOLD · GUARDED — Stuck in Warm range — related but missing the core concept.
- MAGENTA · CRITICAL — Frozen guesses only — semantic field wrong, pivot your theme.

Frequently asked questions
› How are scores calculated? How-to
Each level uses a hardcoded proximity map — hundreds of pre-rated warmth scores. ENABLE words outside the map get a low frozen score.
› Why did my word get rejected? Troubleshooting
It was not in ENABLE (the reference English wordlist). Check spelling or try a close synonym.
› Is there a guess limit? Trust & accuracy
No — unlimited guesses. The game is about closing distance, not conserving tries.
› How do I use a puzzle helper without spoiling the game? How-to
Use a puzzle helper after your own first attempt, not before every move or answer. Read the rules, try a round cold, then use the guide to understand misses, patterns, and better strategy. That keeps the puzzle fun while turning mistakes into practice.
› What should I learn first in a new puzzle game? Definition
Learn the rules, win condition, scoring, and one opening habit before chasing advanced tactics. Most players improve fastest by removing obvious mistakes: unclear turns, wasted guesses, ignored constraints, or overusing hints. Strategy only matters once the basic loop is automatic.
