Work Glossary

Plain-English definitions for the terms Kefiw uses when comparing AI career risk, robotics exposure, training payback, and career durability.

AI exposure

The amount of a job’s task bundle that software may be able to perform, assist, or compress. AI exposure does not mean the entire job disappears. It means parts of the work may become faster, cheaper, or easier to automate.

Robotics exposure

The amount of a physical job that may be affected by robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, warehouse automation, service robots, or machine vision.

Human moat

The part of a career that still depends on a person, such as licensing, trust, liability, judgment, safety, physical presence, customer relationships, patient care, local knowledge, and accountability.

Career durability

A practical estimate of whether a career remains useful and worth pursuing after demand, payback, AI exposure, robotics exposure, human moat, and upgrade path are considered.

Training payback

How long it takes for a career program, license, degree, or certificate to repay its cost through higher income.

Entry-level risk

The risk that beginner tasks become automated, compressed, outsourced, or absorbed by more experienced workers using AI.

AI upside

The possibility that AI makes a skilled worker more valuable instead of less valuable.

Credential payback

Whether a license, certificate, degree, or training program creates enough wage lift or hiring access to justify its cost.

Observed AI adoption

Actual use of AI in work tasks, not just what AI could theoretically do.

Theoretical AI capability

What AI may be technically capable of performing under ideal conditions.

Automation watchlist

A list of jobs or tasks that deserve caution because they combine repeatability, low human moat, digital workflows, or structured physical environments.

Bridge job

A job that may not be the final destination but helps someone earn income, build experience, or move into a stronger path.

Upgrade path

The next move that makes a career more durable, such as specialization, licensing, management, compliance, operations, technical skill, or ownership.
