Career Durability Score Explained

The Career Durability Score is a decision-support score. It helps compare careers, but it does not predict exact job outcomes.

A score combines demand, payback, AI exposure, robotics exposure, human moat, entry-level risk, upgrade path, and upside with AI. The score should be read as a starting point for better questions.

Example 1: High AI exposure, strong AI upside

A software developer may have high AI exposure because AI can help write code. But the career can still be strong if the worker owns systems, security, architecture, testing, deployment, and business outcomes. This type of career may score as “good path if upgraded.”

Example 2: Low AI exposure, weak payback

A physical job may be hard for AI to replace but still have weak payback if wages are low, the schedule is unstable, or there is no upgrade path. Low AI exposure does not automatically mean a good career.

Example 3: High robotics exposure, strong upgrade path

A warehouse worker may face robotics exposure, but the worker can improve durability by moving toward forklift, inventory control, maintenance, logistics, safety, supervision, or automation support. The current job may be a bridge.

Example 4: Medium exposure, high human moat

A nurse may use AI for documentation or summaries, but the role still depends on patient assessment, communication, physical presence, licensing, and accountability. The career can remain durable if the worker uses AI safely and continues building clinical judgment.
